"coney Island"
This is my Special Techniques entry in the '07 OSSAS. He didn't place, but oh well, he was up against some really nice flower arrangements. The horse itself is royal icing, over fondant, over a wire armature. The mane and tail are royal icing and the trappings are fondant. It didn't show up in the picture but the ropes and saddle blanket are lustered so that they shimmer.

Absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe he didn't even place - can't imagine what your competition looked like! You did an amazing job on this, plus it's a bit of nostalgia for me too since I was born and grew up in Gravesend B'klyn (next section over from Coney Island!).
