Betty Boop Surprise Cake

Just a practice cake today;-) I am a stay at home mommy and love to work on cakes! It is snowing alot her (supposed to get 12 inches:-o) so just thought that I would have some fun wtih the cakes!! Just some questions though, how do I get a deep deep red with the MMF? And I use powdered sugar to roll out the MMF so it wont stick, but then I am left with a residue on the MMF and it it hard to dust off, any suggestions? Thanks!;-)

Cute cake! Someone on one of the forums said you can use cornstarch to roll out your mmf. That is what the marshmallows are coated in to begin with. I have not tried mmf, so I'm not speaking from experiance here, but I did read that. As for the red, I'm not sure on the mmf, but on buttercream, I've heard to start with hot pink, and then add your red. Also americolor (?) coloring is supposed to be better for red and black. Good luck!
