There has to be an easier way than baking 6 cakes to get one....Up until now when a customer has ordered a 6 or 8 inch ombre cake I am baking 4-6 separate colored cakes and then cutting them on half and stacking them to create a ombre cake but that is so time consuming not to mention a waste of left over cake...I am baking 6 cakes to assemble one...   Is there an easier way??? Would you share   Laurel :-)
What's going on with the site....It shows this cake on the front of the newest cake pictures and it says I made it..I did not...I would like to know who though... I mearly posted a picture of it because a customer sent it to me and wants a cake like it...   weird....
I've been asked to make a cake like this...What would I use to make the 3D Head...I have the wilton 3D Egg pan...and ball...I don't want to use rice krispies because the texture is always so bumpy and it shows through the fondant...   What cakepan would you use?
A few years back there was a kit surfacing around...sold on Ebay.It was a kit to make a 3D Fireruck cake.I bought the kit and used it once but can't seem to find the template that came with it to make the royal icing ladder...   Does anyone have the template to make the ladder...if so would you share it with me?     Thanks     Laurel :-)
Thanks ms GF..I did after I figured out where ;-)

I would have loved a home kitchen but my house just isn't big enough...Hubby built a home office in the basement when we first bought the house 13 years ago and to rip it out and replace it would have cost about $15,000.It really isn't bad at the kitchen I rent because she has 4 ovens so I can bake a lot of cakes at one time and be out of there in about 1-2 hours...so it works for me...and some of the rental kitchen are way more than $35.00 and hour...if I use it longer...
I have to bake, decorate and deliver the same day...I am not really very busy so it works out okay...
A store front is not cheaper here..There are almost no buildings now a days that you can buy unless you have deep pockets..Everything is leased in strip malls or downtown...I looked into a lease and it was $15.00 a sq ft...so if you had a 1000 sq ft space it would cost you thousands in lease per month before you paid to have the space built out and then pay for commercial appliances etc and finally any profit...if there was any......You would be broke before you started...
If I were to offer Gluten-Free baking what product do I need to use in order to sterilize my stainless steel bowls and spatulas...   Also I realize that you can't be around or use any regular flour etc and the airborn particles must be eliminated...so how long would the kitchen have to be left before the particles would be gone or settled? Can you have flour around in containers for other baking or not at all...   I am trying to see if it is feasible to offer gluten ...
