I did a cake a couple days ago that was an 8" round 7" tall cake. I crumb coated the night before and all was well until i put final layer of frosting on the nexts day, turned my back on it to make some fondant decor, turned back around and the cake started to droop! It just squated under the pressure. I have never had this problem with traditional 2 layer cake. So, next time I will use support!
