Good morning,

I would like to try to make the eyeball cake for Halloween but am just a beginner and would prefer to use all buttercream instead of fondant. Does anyone have any pointers for icing a round cake? I'll be using the sports ball pan. Also, any ideas what I can make the creepy green fingers out of instead of fondant?

Thanks for your help!

I think I've seen the cake you're talking about. To make it from the ball, you would trim the bottom and adhere it to the cake board using frosting. Then ice it. I would use a crusting bc so it could be smoothed after. For the fingers, would piping them on with stiff BC work?
