I always do a crumb layer of icing on my cakes. Does the crumb layer need to be the same color as what is going to be the final layer. For example, I am making a football field cake for the Super Bowl. Can I do the crumb layer white and then the green or should both be green?

Thanks.

I often use white for the crumb coat, and something else for the cover. As long as you crumb coat is set, and you icing isn't really thin, it should work fine.
