Just wondering if anyone else satisfies their desire for all things pink and girly by doing cakes. I have 4 wonderful boys I wouldn't trade for anything, but I am grateful to get to express my girly side with sugar icon_smile.gif I've had a rush of princess and pink cakes lately and am having a ball. My business cards are swirly and girly, too. Watch out if I ever get a shop icon_lol.gif

I know what you mean. I have two sons; 26 and 21 and three grandsons and one granddaughter.

Boy, you should have seen me when I had my first tea party with her...I was on cloud nine icon_biggrin.gif

She is the oldest of my four grands. When I found out that she was going to be a girl, I went shopping and spent over $500 in one day and she wasn't even born yet icon_surprised.gificon_lol.gif

The sales lady took advantage of me when she found out that she was going to be my first grandchild plus a girl to boot. She showed me all this cute stuff for baby girls and I couldn't help myself icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Yep, nothing like having that little girl icon_biggrin.gif I loved doing the Strawberry Shortcake for her thumbs_up.gif .

I'm the only girl in my house - DH, DS and even the dog is a boy. I always offer free birthday cakes to our friends and extended family's girls, just to inject some pink into my life. icon_biggrin.gif

I have three boys as well so I had to get a girl dog!! It's funny sometimes I really crave girly things to do. I also think to the future and realize I will probably be the smallest in my family and VERY protected!!
Luckily I have three nieces and get to do some girly things with them!
I do wish my hubby got to experience the daddy's little girl worship though!
No more for us, hopefully we will have at least 1 granddaughter in the very distant future!!

I have 2 boys, ages 5 and 2{3 in April, already drawing up drafts of the cake!icon_wink.gif}. I think I have 1 girly cake in my photos! Every time I get an order it's usually for boys. I do have a girly baby shower cake to do at the end of the month I'm pretty excited about. I want to do one of those pillow cakes, but they want a sheet cake. I was thinking about adding a little pillow to the sheet cake and setting the booties on it. I personally am not one of those girly type girls. I've always liked sports and I was never really into hair/makeup and that type of thing. I think I was destined to have boys. icon_smile.gif

I have two little boys 1year and 2years old. Of course my DH and Oreo our ginuea pig, he is a boy also. I love it! I am kind of a tom boy myself. But I do LOVE to make girly, pretty cakes!!! In fact I prefer doing girly cakes over boy cakes any day.

I have 2 boys and a girl (my youngest). Since she was a surprise, I had visions of doing girly, pink birthdays, ect. But, alas, my daughter will not have any of that! I soooo wanted her to have a pillow cake with a tiara on top for her last birthday (she turned 4), but instead we had a cowgirl party. I wasn't even aloowed to inject 'girl' colors into the party--like pink bandanas instead of red! ~Sigh~ Maybe one day......

I have three boys too! It's so funny because I grew up a girly girl with only a sister, so I wasn't prepared! It's a crazy life with three boys, but it's great! I did tell my hubby last month that since I'm the only girl I think I deserve my own bathroom. They can all share since they are all so messy. I just want a tiny little piece os something that mine.

We are going to be building my shop next month and I can't wait. It will be a girl refuge! This is a great thread. Thanks!

I have 2 boys. One turned 2 in December and the other will be 5 on Sunday. I do look forward to doing the girly cakes for my nieces. My sister has promised I could go prom dress shopping with her and I like to tag along on their chick flick outings too. I still want another child, so maybe I'll get my girl then!

LOL - how funny. i would have never thought of that...although i do have a little girl.
I have 2 boys, 12 & 8 - i was not expecting to have DD 5 yrs later. When i found out it was a girl i was in denial. I always thought i'd be a mom to boys only. I do have tons & tons of nieces, two being my god daughters. Once i had my little girl i had issues putting dresses on her. LOL I felt weird, like it was wrong. I'm not nor ever was a tomboy, but i hate girly colors & such. I am more used to having a little girl around now. But i don't go out all pink for her. Right now she's not a girly girl, she's more like her brothers. Skate boards & all. icon_cry.gif I have done 2 cakes for her, one butterfly and one pillow. I do make a lot of girly cakes for my nieces though.

momofjakeandjosh- your name reminds me of the Nick show my kids always watch. But it's Drake & Josh, 2 teen boys w/a little sister.

I also only have 2 boys. But the dog is a girl. My sons are 16 and 18 and I taught them to decorate when they were young. They loved it! Entered shows and won quite a bit, they even had their cakes pictured in ACD! But when they got older Dad said that was too sissy, so they stopped. icon_cry.gif

I was also quite a tomboy growing up, but I do crave the girly stuff now, just look at my avatar!

I have 2 boys, 4 & 5. Plus my hubby so I'm the only girl in my house. I love my boys to death and wouldn't change a thing even though I thought I always wanted girls. I joke all the time that when we get a dog it will be a girl but I'll probably stick with a boy. I've found that as my boys get older, I lean towards more purple and pink in my wardrobe and fashion - like I'm trying to keep the girly side of me since its all testoserone in the house. I have a new niece so I'll get to do the girly stuff with her while my sons continue to adore me - they've already told me that they'll only marry someone else because they can't marry me icon_lol.gif

I also have 3 boys. 15,11 & 8, a hubby and a boy dog. I too crave my own bathroom. Boys are so messy. I love getting cake orders for girls, I have a my little pony cake to do this weekend. I can't wait. It sure does bring out some girly girl stuff in me when I'm deocorating. I have a new neice, and I couldn't wait to do her hair, but of course she is 18 months and is still bald as a Q ball. Hopefully someday.........

Thanks all for the chat thumbs_up.gif

I, too, am the mother of all boys. I have three - 11, 2, and 9 months. I was disappointed that I didn't have a girl with the last one, but he's the sweetest little thing, ever. Life is a lot of fun with boys, but very messy! We're hoping for another, so maybe then...I told my husband that if it is a girl, she'll probably be a tomboy and I won't be able to do the pink girly stuff I'm dying to do. icon_cry.gif

I also am a lone woman in a house full of men. Besides my mom I was the only girl while growing up. Have two brothers and now two step brothers. I had two boys (25 & 21 now). Have had two husbands, found the right one the second time. Have two grand children but low and behold my first was a girl. I was so happy and in shock don't know how to act around a female, her or her mom. I feel so hardened with them. Thankfully my oldest son is raising her to be a little bit of a tom-boy, and her mom is a cop. Not many frills there. I still feel like I am walking on egg shells around them.

I have two boys ages 4 and 8. My only neice lives a couple states away, I'm hoping that one of the 3 babies due in the next few months will be a girl, there are 6 grandkids right now and only one is a girl.
I love shopping for my niece, she's a really girly girl so anything princess or barbie works.
For cakes I just decide that I'm making something that I want, sometimes for my birthday.

My son's teachers tell me that the reservation we live on has a higher ratio of boys anyway. That's obvious in my husband's cousins, there are at least 7 boys between them and no girls.

I have twin boys who are now 18 and in college. Where did the time go! I always assumed I would have girls...it's all I knew, being the third of four in my family. My boys are my greatest treasures, and I don't mind missing out on any "girly" things. My sisters and I are close, and they are my best friends. Now, if you want some "twin" stories, I could fill pages!

I have 2 boys, ages 11 and 8 (12 & 9 in March). I LOVE my boys, wouldn't trade them for the world! Thought, at one time, that I wanted a little girl, but once I had my second son, we knew our family was complete, without any little girls. I do now have a niece (she is the only little girl, I also have a new nephew, 5 weeks old), she just turned 1 year! And don't you know she is SPOILED?????? My boys even dote on her!! She is the most precious thing! So I get to do all my girly stuff for her! I got to make her 1st birthday cake (it's in my photos) and I loved it!

But I love having boys!!

The first girl grandchild, I went nuts...finally able to buy a cute little frilly clothes. Now that the girls are pre-teen and teens, lucky if would ever catch them in a dress.

I have all boys in my house, even down to the cat. I hope to adopt a girl one day, but for right now I just do a bunch of cakes for the women's organization in my church. It's the largest women's organization in the world and so there is LOTS of opportunities, even in our little branch of it.

I raised two DD now almost 24 and 27. When DD #2 was fifteen, I remarried and had my son at age 37! icon_surprised.gif The difference between my son and my daughters as children is like night and day and I'm seriously beginning to doubt my survival. He's 9 now and I'm already dreading the teen years. He has his lovable, sweet moments and I wouldn't trade him for anything, I just hope I survive him!! icon_lol.gif

Thank you so much for the great feedback. I agree with the majority of you- boys are great thumbs_up.gif . It's so fashionable to slam boys these days- it was nice to see all the affection for them here. Mine, too, are interested in cakes. Who knows, maybe we have the next Duff here. And icon_lol.gif I have to agree about looking to the future and being "well-protected" My dh is 6'4" and I'm not quite 5'2". I envision a funny but sweet family photo in a few years. I think cakes are a great way to get some pink in my life, it's so much fun to get to express that side of me. I made a pink castle last week (in my photos) and now I carry a photo of it as if it were one of the kids icon_lol.gif Speaking of photos, here are my little boys:

I too live in a house of men!!!! I have 2 WONDERFUL boys 1 & 5 and of course the biggest baby of them all is my DH (31). I don't get to do many girly cakes unless a teacher from my son's school orders one and then all bets are off with the boy stuff. I've noticed that cakes are the same as clothes with boys and girls. There are so many more choices for girls than boys. All of my guys drive me completely BONKERS icon_eek.gif most of the time, but I wouldn't change one single thing about them. My oldest says he is my "design specialist" and my youngest is my "quality control specialist" (with my DH of course) and so they are part of the cake business as well. I would so love to freeze time with them in this moment as my oldest has just started school and is not into girls yet and my youngest is at that "loving" age. My oldest will tell you that he can't have a girlfriend until he's 30, (and I've got applications for those interested then). He says I'm the only girl he can have a date with, and he's absolutely correct!!!!! thumbs_up.gif

By the way, here are my guys, can you tell that they are a little spoiled???
