This is the first cake I've made since my two month break for morning sickness. It was for a special night at church for 12-18 year old girls. I think the cake is a little too small for the stand, but they wanted to use it. I don't think I'll be doing anymore for a few more weeks. This wore me out. I went to bed friday night saying " this is the ugliest cake I've ever made!" I woke up saturday feeling much better. Then I did the decorating and was actually happy with how it came out.

I love the cake. It loos great on the stand. I see what you are worried about the Cake being too small but that could hav been fixed with one or two flowers. But no worries. It's a great cake.

Sorry to hear that you're too sick to do cakes for a while, at least it's worthwhile..lol

Hope you feel better and next time if you have to do a cake, just take it easy, start earlier and take your time.

Every one should understand that you're in a "DELICATE CONDITION"..lol

I think your cake looks great! I would love to be at the level to be able to do a cake like that. I am currently taking Wilton Course 2. My 2nd class is tomorrow night.

Thank you all for you wonderful comments! Mrs Missey, it's a good thing I didn't take a picture of it friday night! It's the worst job I've ever done covering a cake in fondant. I didn't do a thick enough crumb coat and it had all kinds of bumps and buldges. It really did look bad. All I can say is that swags can deffinately hide a bad fondant job! Once I finished putting on the swags and bows I was stunned. I didn't see the flaws anymore. So here's a tip... if your fondant doesn't look great try adding swags to cover it up. icon_lol.gif

Price, thanks! All I took was the wilton classes. Just keep working!
Aupekkle, I just brushed the backs of each one with water, then stuck them to the side of the cake.

I love your cake, Kristy! Whatever was wrong with it, I definitely can't see it. It is such a feminine cake!! I like the stand, too. Maybe a few flowers would have made it look like it fit a bit better. Hope you feel better soon.
