I am making a baby shower cake for 7/30/04. I would like to make little baby booties out of marzipan...I didn't have time to try it with royal icing. I've never worked with marzipan before and an unsure of how far in advance I can make them...will they dry out, crack, fall apart? Should I add anything to the marzipan?

Any info would be much appreciated.

I have never worked with Marzipan myself, but it is extremely similar to fondant or gumpaste. So you do not want to leave it out for too long otherwise it will crack. (I would say no longer than 48 hours uncovered, someone correct me if I am wrong)

I did a baby shower cake last spring and used the candy melts and a really cute baby shoe mold I got at a craft shop where I get all my Wilton stuff. They turned out so cute. I also have alphabet block molds I use with candy melts. Candy melts are easy and a fun way to decorate. Have fun!
