I am trying to think/find ideas for a friend's daughter's bday (Beauty and the beast theme...she wants Belle for sure but they need another cake) I found the recipe for "Solitary Rose" on the Wilton site. They use the mini ball pan. I kind of didn't want to buy another pan. I have the large ball pan. Do you think this would work on the large one? here is the link to the recipe. Please let me know what you think or any thoughts on this topic at all. Thank you all in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Are you trying to make one cake or many small cakes....If you are trying to make small cakes and so not want to purchase another pan...use a muffin pan and apply the same technique as you would to the mini ball
I've seen it used on regular cupcakes and it turns out just about the same. I'm not sure if it would work on the larger single pan. The space would require more petals and I'm not sure how realistic it would end up looking. You could try.
I just wanted to make 1 other cake, but the more I've thought about it, I will probably buy the mini ball pan or use cupcakes (hadn't thought of that!). I agree that it just wouldn't look right on the large ball. We shall see, what happens, I really haven't definately decided on this route. Any other ideas for a companion cake to Belle? I'm thinking maybe Mrs. Potts/Chip, or a book, the roses.... Thanks for your help so far though!
