I am planning decorations for a cake where I want to attach designs printed on rice paper to sugar paste.  My plan is to use clear piping gel to attach the rice paper and then apply a thin layer of gel over the top of the rice paper image. I have 2 questions,

#1 - do I apply the rice paper to new sugar paste or dry sugar paste, and

#2 - how far in advance can I make them?

Any advice and comments will be greatly appreciated.

Weellllll......my suggestion would be to use a little gel as possible.  Actually just a brushing of  water would work just as well.   I have made such decorations as much as a week in advance. Be sure to keep them in a cool, dry place out of light........in a box, in a cupboard or similar.   And wafer paper can be placed on either 'wet' or dry sugar paste.  I think i always used wet.
