Freezing Buttercream

Hello, everyone!  How long will a buttercream frosting last in the freezer and still taste fresh?  Is 3-4 months too long?  This frosting is made with half butter and half hi ratio shortening.  Thank you.

If it was sealed properly, I would think you can keep it a lot longer than that.  I remember my 1st anniversary cake, which had buttercream frosting, was frozen for a year and when Mike and I celebrated our first anniversary, it tasted just like it did on our wedding day.

As Sandra said, if it is sealed well it can last over a year.
