Hello, I made a flower pot cake last weekend and it did not turn well. So I would like to figure out what went wrong, and see if you can help me. The pot was a medium size – 6 inches, so not a big cake. I was worried to cut it and it in the middle to tort it, so I put more, but not too much icing around. The bottom line is when I was done, the fondant was kind of sinking and cake was leaning on the side. When we eat it, there was more like just the cake without icing. So in the future what I should do differently? Thank you.

hello Zlatka,

are you talking about 6'' tall or wide cake?

Anyway, my advice is to cut any cake to layers 1''-1,5'' and frost it with some cream. Rest frosted cake in a cooler to firm the cream. If the cake is tall then secure it with straws and cardboard in the middle. Never put to many icing under the fondant.

I think your fondant was sinking beacuse to much icing, and cake was leaning on one side beacuse it couldn't hold its weigh, and maybe it was less baked on that side.

I hpe you will have more luck next time. :-)
