Piping Buttercream Flowers On Fondant Covered Cake??

Hello Ladies
I was wondering if piping bunch of buttercream flowers on a fondant covered cake is a good idea or it's a NO-NO? If yes what things do I need to keep in consideration for minimum to no disaster. Looking forward for your valuable suggestions, Thanks !!
I have used b'cream on fondant......not necessarily flowers but in my opinion it's totally doable. Just know if you make a mistake & try to clean it up it will make the fondant shiny/stained. Do you have a design in mind? What flowers are you trying to make? Use a crusting b'cream so the flowers set up on the 'hard' side........no they are not really hard, just touchable.
Hello kakeladi, Thanks for your reply.I am planning to make a 2 tier Unicorn cake and making buttercream roses shells ( assorted in a way) around the horn and ears ( Very common design attached a pic for reference). Cake in the picture is not done by me and it's buttercream but I wanted to do this on a fondant covered cake. BTW what is crusting buttercream?
Total doable. The rosettes are piped directly on, as on the little drop flowers, but the 7 petal white and blue ones are done on a flower nail first, then attached, unless you can pipe them upside down and sideways lol
Crusting b'cream is one that has less fat (butter, Crisco whatever) than sugar. As it dries it forms a light crust so it can be touched/handled. Here is a link to a good one. Be sure to read it through as there is information at the end that you wll use: http://www.cakecentral.com/recipe/22469/2-icing
@ypierce82 & @kakeladi Thank you so much for your advises, I will keep them in my mind for my upcoming project
This is the cake I made this weekend. It is a fondant coverd cake with buttercream waves and flowers. For the flowers, I used wak paper on a flower nail. I piped the flowers on the nail, moved them to a plate, and then froze them. When they got hard I peeled off the wax paper and used a small dab of buttercream it apply them to the cake.
@ FIRugbyChick wow, what a cute little cake. I loved that movie LOL. Thanks for the information. Appreciate it :)
@kakeladi @FIRugbyChick @ypierce82 Thanks again for your advice.. Here is the cake I made using all your suggestions. Love you all :)
