Hi I need some help here!
I want to make a cake similar to this one for my son's birthday! I don't mind using fondant but I'm remodeling the kitchen and the space is very limited. Then I saw this video, she is using the viva technique for the decorations and details! ---> HERE
Can I use the same technique for this cake?? I was wondering about the nose and the ears. Please help!!
You could certainly cover the cakes with buttercream and smooth them using the Viva method, but your details would need to be fondant. Since they are small pieces, a lot of space wouldn't be required.
Her cake is also a sheet cake, and not a tiered cake, so she was easily able to smooth the details. I agree with Sandra. I would butter cream the cake and do the details in fondant, you're not going to get the look of the ears on the mask using butter cream.
Yes I though it will be hard to avoid the fondant, but I think I can do some details.
