I have always wanted to learn how to airbrush cakes but I don't know any place local that offers a class.  So, I've decided to try to teach myself.  What is a reasonable price for an airbrush for a beginner like me?  Is there a special type of airbrush for cakes or can I buy one at our local craft store like Michael's, Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's?  Is this technique difficult to learn; would I be wasting my time trying to teach myself?  Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

I was in the same position; wanted to learn but couldn't find anywhere local that was running classes.

So I bought a Dinkydoodle and decided to teach myself. Watched a bunch of youtube videos (not just cake airbrushing ones but also looked at graffiti artists and car airbrushing too!) and picked up lots of tips.

I think in the end just practice practice practice until you're comfortable with the equipment and happy with what you're doing and then if it's something you're enjoying you can look at investing more time/money in it.

Hope that helps!
