I second that! First it was the forums but now the gallery too.  I don't quite understand why this site is continuously hacked when others are not.

Its not hacked, its just spammers who get around the spam prevention.  Tons of other forums get this same stuff, maybe not other forums you are on, but if you google search it, it usually comes up in waves all around various forums.

So far we do not know how this new wave is getting through, we stopped this similar type of issue before and Jackie is looking into it.

What i meant by hacked was just that all the spam was getting through.  Incorrect use of the term, my bad.

I suspect they will be more aggressive this time of year. I have noticed that they really seem to try to get in when they think admins are less likely to be around.  They do it at night, holidays, etc.

Even though it feels like it is a lot, we actually catch more than 90% of it before it ever gets posted for you to see, that is how aggressive they are.  We use Akismet, Cloudflare and other professional services to attempt to thwart them.  Unfortunately spammers are aggressive and they collaborate to find ways to get around blocks so it is a constant game of cat and mouse.

I think it's sad.  They need to get a life - I don't understand the point behind it.  Have they got nothing better to do.  I don't understand how they benefit from doing this stupid stuff.  Glad you are trying to keep on top of it.

Maybe I don't understand...

I can see how the SPAM photos end up in the NEW photos section... but if no one is clicking fav on them, how are they ending up in the FAVORITES section?

I must be confused how it works...

Maybe you can ask Mr. Owl, for he's the wisest of us all.
