Did you attach a picture? If so it doesn't show.

Do you mean the bc under the fondant or are you planning on a bc only cake with quilt pattern?

I would probably use a crusting buttercream (ABC), or even a meringue buttercream. If you use Swiss Merinue buttercream, I would place the iced cake in the fridge for about an hour to let the frosting harden. This would make is easier to create the quilt patterns without messing/smudging the frosting, Good luck :)
