How Should I Make My Cake? Icing, Fondant, Cake Pop..

I'm a definite beginner to baking. Right now, I am making a hand cake for Halloween. I plan on stuffing a glove with what you normally use for cake pops, and after the shape forms, I will cover it with icing and then fondant. I don't know if that's possible or whether the hand will even hold it's shape? Any tips/recommendations?
Unless you freeze it super hard, you're not going to be able to get it out of the glove without mashing it. Could you try just sculpting it and do without the glove altogether?
