Saw this powder in the cake decorating aisle, but what is it for?

It's in the '5 ingredient' cake lace recipe.  It's also in fondants & gumpaste.

I thought it was another type of tylose or cmc powder because they didn't have any on the shelf. So I used to make a mans crown, it kind of hardened (made it sunday night). But has some soft areas. Is it to late to make another crown using tylose instead for Saturday. [postimage id="5360" thumb="900"]

gum arabic is a strengthener in royal icing and it also adds shine -- it's the ingredient that edible glitter flakes are made of --

no i don't think it's too late be sure you knead the tylose in really well -- you should be fine -- you could also add some cornstarch if you want -- that's a nice looking crown
