Happy Friday everyone! This is my "Tuesday" but it's still a good day for me. The weekend means the business office is closed so half of my job is closed...weekends are a nice slow time at the museum. This weekend may even be slower because it's gorgeous in Monterey right now! People tend to want to stay outside or go to the beach on days like that, not the museum. I'll have plenty of time to read my book this weekend. I can't complain. This also means I'll have plenty of time to check back in with all of you and see your creations! Hope to see a ton of them this weekend!

I'm shocked to see no cakes posted! Maybe everyone is busy working on some now? I only had one cake this week which was nice because I am still tired from last week. It was a birthday cake for a friend's son who turned 10. He plays hockey so they had his party at our local rink. He is a Montreal Canadiens fan (BOO!) and wanted a jersey cake. I have made 4 of them before so it was easy to do. The hardest part was cutting out the CCM logo because of it's size. It turned out to be my favorite one so far, well, other than the fact that it's the Canadians.....lol
Hoping to see some more creations!
Kelly
Great cake Kelly I love the way you did the sleeves. I bet your friends son was happy with it.
I don't have a cake until the end end of October. I have been watching videos all day on how to make hydrangeas, alstroemerias, tiger lilies and roses. I have made the lily and roses before. The videos always make it look so easy with a beautiful flower as the end results.
I could use some advice on wrapping the wires. Do you always wrap the wire? I have some Wilton wire for flowers and they look like they are already wrapped do I wrap them again.
Thanks for any advice. I hope to get started on them sometime this week.
Hope to see some more cakes and have a great weekend.
marian -- yes you need the wrapped wire because otherwise everything slips off -- then if the stems will show in the final product like if you're making a spray you need to wrap them in florist tape -- sometimes you just need the stems to hold the flower together like the stargazer -- it goes real fast to wrap them -- it's kinda fun twirling them
@kstevens Spectacular work as always! The sleeves make it so realistic. Great job!
I donated two cakes today to an organization dedicated to stopping the cycle of sexual violence in Zambia and Kenya.
This one was to capture the innocence of childhood and the ability to wish and dream beautiful things.

This is my tribute to Monet's Water Lilies. To me it evokes beauty and peace.

@kstevens your cakes always look fantastic!
@Pastrybaglady I love the idea with the child dreaming and making wishes but my favourite is the Monet inspired cake! So impressionistic and beautiful flowers.
I had a bit of a crazy week and ended up having to do three cakes although I hardly had time to do one. So they were all a bit rushed and I am disappointed.
The first one was a simple chocolate cake with ganache for a client who gets chocolate gravings every now and then and orders cake from me just like that. The other one was a last minute taekwondo girl themed cake for a friend who's quite a girly girl lady but started recently with taekwondo so u tried to combine both. And the last one was for a boy who turned 8 and is a huge Messi (football) fan. I made the goals out of homemade piped flexible lace as planned but wish I would have done a neater job. And the Messi topper became a bit too tall in proportion while the football field (or soccer field for you in the US lol) looks a bit empty...I should have distributed the birthday wishes a bit more clever like maybe around the middle circle. Bummer. They just came to collect it and we're very excited when they saw the cake so at least I can breath again but on the inside I'm still kicking myself!!!

Taekwondo girly cake - carrot cake with faux cream cheese frosting by the way
i knew julia would be chiming in shortly with a cake...or three -- super nice stuff for being rushed you'd never know -- chocolate cravings well satisfied -- so much quality hand work extra expertise on the soccer and the girly girl taekwondo -- wonderful work -- when the clients are happy you've scored --
pastrybaglady -- wow you certainly had the most inspiring inspirational themes going -- both are stunning workmanship of course and the stopping sexual violence of children is too much to consider it even happening for it then to be brought together as a theme and you represented it so wonderfully -- you turned an awful thing into a very beautiful one --
and monet -- come on -- i just love him and your interpretation is amazing
gorgeous cakes everyone!! no cakes for me this week just a few cupcakes (24) i made for marie curie cancer care fundraiser they were chocolate with ganache and trifle, my new favorite cupcake flavour!!

@Laetia I'm gonna pretend you didn't cheer for the habs.....lol
@Pastrybaglady your cakes are both beautiful! The Monet one is my favorite just because I like Monet.
@julia1812 that chocolate cake looks delish! Great job on the perfectly smooth ganache :-) I like the silhouette in the taekwondo cake, very clever. Your nets look better than ones that I play in (I play keeper in soccer) and I think the cake looks great!
@shellbell181 your cupcakes are very pretty! The daffodils are perfect :-)
you did you did! so elegant so tall -- what a posh setting -- tons of hard work -- you did great
@-K8memphis thanks! I knew there had to be a reason why I wrapped the wires for the petals and then wrapped the petals together. Now I just need to our procastinating and make them.
As always everyone did a fantasitic Kob this week. I especially love the Monet by @Pastrybaglady there is a peace you get when looking at it. Great job everyone.
marian -- wait -- I buy my wires coated, make the flowers, petals, leaves, then use the florist tape to cover the individual wires then the cover multiple wires together as I join up all the pieces to make a spray -- not sure if I said that right previously
