Hello.  I have a 2 tier naked cake due this Saturday.  I feel as if naked cakes will dry out sooner because they are not covered.  Is there a way to keep it moist?  How long can the cakes sit before this becomes an issue?  Thanks!

In my experience, exposed sides/top of a cake will begin to dry out fairly quickly. If your cake will have a kind of crumb coat, that's enough to keep it moist. When I make a true naked cake, which means no icing, I melt a light colored jelly or jam (usually apricot) and brush the exposed cake. It's really quite pretty - the glaze adds a special touch.

I have done a simple syrup painted onto my naked cakes before also. You can keep it plain or flavor it with an extract.
