A friend of mine has asked me to bake an art-themed cake for her daughter's birthday. I'm thinking of inserting two pait brushes on the cake and hangng a bunter between them. My question is if its ok to do it, or would be a health & safety concern to insert the brushes? Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

You could do what we do when inserting wired flowers, use a tooth pick or a drinking straw to stick the NEW UNUSED brushes in? However you could twiddle brushes out of gum paste pretty easily, its just two long sausages of paste and an oval at the tip you could mark with a fork? I do have to add a H&S Disclaimer here though..once you've played with gumpaste..you may become addicted! Lol x

yes, because you're correct  to be so cautious, wrap them all up like cakebaby said -- or maybe use bamboo skewers available at most (of my) local grocery stores -- used for cooking shish kabobs
