Diagonal Stripes On Fondant

I cannot figure out how I would make these thin diagonal stripes like on this cake

De la Creme Studio:

Maybe using a tape, but what kind? And is it better to use just lustre dust and dab it on or is painting with dust+vodka better?

You could use ribbon.  If you prefer to use fondant, I would paint it w/dust mixes w/vodka (or such) before placing on cake.  Using the mixture vs straight dust will give you a much richer, more gold-like/shiny finish.  Dusting will give a dull, matte finish.

In my humble opinion...this is how I would do it......

I would use gold leaf on rice paper cut out strips for the stripes....here is a video kinda giving the idea...


otherwise you can hand stripe the cakes but it takes a deft hand....

When I say "rice paper" I mean Wafer Paper
