Hi all!

Hoping some Canadians can help. I want to make a pearlized lustre tier.. Mixing with vodka is way too tacky and we don't have access to everclear here.

So what do you use? There is the shortening dry powder method but that uses so much dust and is messier.

I wish we had access to higher percentage alcohol!

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

If you want the entire tier to be covered in lustre dust, I would use PME edible lustre dust spray or similar.

Thanks! But I think you can get a better variety of colours of you use lustre dust.. I'll have to research the sprays

I completely agree with the others ... for the pearlized tier use the PME edible lustre dust spray ... it is really beautiful and so easy to use.

For gold, silver, copper, etc., I would mix the dust with lemon extract or try to find a really high percentage vodka or gin - anything clear.  If you do use the lemon extract, warn your clients that there will be an after-taste because along with the alcohol, it also has lemon oil.  Actually I would just tell them to peal the fondant off.

Sorry, I can't edit ... that would be "peel", not "peal" it off.
