Hi! I was just wondering. Do all silicone fondant rolling mats have fiberglass reinforcement in them? I have one that I use to knead and roll fondant and I noticed lately that my mat has cuts in it. Totally fault of course. Shouldn't have used that exacto knife!!! Is it still safe to use with all those cuts?

I have no idea how to post a photo of the mat that I have. Here's a link.

Thanks!!!

HI - I think most do have the reinforcement. I use the Ateco  24"x36" for all my work : https://www.amazon.com/Ateco-36-Inch-Silicone-Fondant-Mat/dp/B000KEUJYS/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1469878774&sr=1-1&keywords=ateco+mat

I'm careful with cutting on it though and typically use another smaller mat that already has cuts in it.

I guess it's time toss out or repurpose my old silicone mat :(

I use "The Mat" and I sincerely hope there is not any fiberglass in it!!!  I stupidly cut fondant with my scalpel and cut the mat but I keep using it.

I don't think there is fiberglass in "The Mat". It is made of vinyl. Here's a link to the list of ingredients.

By the way, do you also knead your fondant on "The Mat"? I make fondant from scratch and I would also knead it on my silicone mat.

melisv, I Knead fondant on my quartz countertops.   I can also cut directly on the countertops as quartz is an extremely hard surface and will not mar with knives or pizza cutters.
