I'm making a 4 tier cake pop tower using round dummy styrofoam cakes. I'm wondering if I should cover each dummy cake with fondant or something else before inserting the cake pops? Does anyone have any ideas?

This is urgent as well. Thank you kindly.

What would be a less expensive option?

You can do Royal Icing but if you are sticking the cake pops with a stick the royal icing will probably crack.  Maybe cover with some type of fabric?

I love the fabric idea!!!! Thank you so much.

Do u think the cake pops on sticks will be okay to poke thru fabric though?

I would not cover the dummy cakes. If you need to fill space you can use colored tissue paper, grab in the middle and scrunch. Insert between cake pops. Like a variation on the picture I'm attaching. I used green tissue paper to cover the styrofoam beneath. 12669699_10205665337818485_7073959835513392034_n.jpg?oh=06e5ce6cab7b7c9143eca9b5fdb22102&oe=5829BC4F

You probably need something similar to an ice pick to pre punch the fabric before you put the sticks in.

But the tissue will fall off as you pull the cake pops.  Then you will end up with a bare styrofoam dummy.

That's true. But cakes are ugly after you cut them up too. Just an easy way for a good presentation. Fabric would work great but you will see through the cake pops and all the sticks.

I had another thought is that the tissue paper could be pasted on with a dab of hot glue or double sided tape and in that way they will stay on.
