I am a newbie in the cake decorating world. Everything that I have learned thus far I've taught myself. I'm starting to have a problem with my  fondant being that I live in hot humid sticky Houston, Texas. I've done some research on Google and I read that having a dehumidifier in the kitchen can improve the air quality and help keep your fondant from sagging and drooping. Does anyone have any experience with a dehumidifier in their kitchen & does it really work when using fondant in humid claimates?  Is it worth the investment?

I live in New England and

 keep a portable air conditioner running and put the cake directly in front of the a/c to keep it from "melting" and "stretching".  Wilton fondant and Fondarific is very stretchy so I used Satin Ice.  Satin Ice needs a lot more kneading, but it stands up better than Wilton fondant or Fondarific.  You may wish to change the brand of fondant you are using.  If you are making your own, add a little meringue to it to help it keep its shape.
