This weekend I had an order for a fashionista's 30th Birthday. I decided to do a sugar shoe topper......somehow during the drying process the heel shifted and tore it and the sole away from the body of the shoe. It was most frustrating given the length of time it takes to dry these art pieces ..... My son seeing my frustration said something to me that gave me an idea...he said I needed "fiberglass" for the shoe!

I had a revelation....I cut out the sole and inner sole pieces out of rice paper....I sandwiched the shoe's sole as follows.....rice paper sole...inner rice paper sole....inner sole....

The rice paper stabilized the shoe's sole and even if the heel shifted....prevented tearing and total shoe failure.

I hope this helps someone out there in cake land :) is the shoe
