I'm planning a cake, 2-3 tiers, 2 or 3 layers each. I tried out a recipe intended for high stacked cakes, thinking that I might need something sturdier than my normal recipe. It's sturdy, but dense and heavy. Does a cake this size really require a special recipe? I suspect that I'd be ok with another recipe I'm more familiar with. Thank you for any help!

You should be able to use any type of cake for stacking...
When using the proper support system, that system carries the weight, not the cake...
