I would like to try the classic white cake recipe and decorate it with fondant. I was wondering if its firm enough for fondant, as I have only seen pictures of white cake with cream frostings. Could anyone share their experience with this please? Thanks!
Yes it is ok to use it under fondant. Add a thick buttercream dam between layers .

Almost any flavor cake should be o.k. under fondant. I use mixes so can't speak to every scratch recipe but I'm sure most any one should be fine.
