Hi all, I really need your help with sheet cakes!.
So I just baked a 9 X 13 sheet cake in a 3 inch tall pan. I filled it a little less than half way full. As it was baking it started to crack and batter rose up and wouldn't cook. The edges were getting burnt and the top never did fully bake. What did I do wrong?
Any help with sheet cakes is appreciated because I have three to do for a wedding next month!
do you have an oven thermometer in there -- i start my cakes at 350 degrees (i'm in the us) then near the end if necessary i tent a piece of foil over it until it's done and i leave it on there when the cake is removed from the oven -- sounds to me your oven was too hot maybe
I had it at 350 degrees but I will try tenting it next time or lowering the temperature. Also, how tall is everyone's sheets? This only came out to abt 1 inch after I cut the runny stuff off.

when you can buy an oven thermometer that you can hang in your oven so you can see if it is baking on temp correctly for you
