Hi

If I want to flavor my cake with emulsion or oil flavoring or regular flavoring, which plain cake mix should I use - white or yellow??

Tried using white cake mix but it has that 'vanilla' after taste & emulsion can't cover it.

What are your opinion / tried tested way??

TIA

You know this is another time where personal tastes is going to be big.  If you have tried white and didn't like it then you are going to have to try the yellow to see if it meets your taste test.  Personally I would have thought white would do it.   Maybe try another brand of white mix?

Oh,  another thought.....maybe you need to try a different type of flavoring.  What did you use in your test?  There are so many different things that can be added - dry pudding; dry jello; fruit juices; yogurts; emulsions etc, etc.   If one did work maybe you need to double up say, pudding and fruit juice.   I don't know I never tried to do this.   Have you checked out that thread by MacsMom with all the different flavors she & others have offered?
