I used Americolor navy blue and it made the icing taste bad. Has this happened to anyone else?
Yes, when I use too much. With darker colors I have learned to make my icing a couple of days ahead to allow it to darken and deepen on its own.
Almost any dark colored icing is going to have an off taste. You need to learn to tint your white icing a light to medium shade before using the very dark paste colors.
