I have a 10x15x4 inch cake (three 1" layers of white cake + 1/2" of sliced fresh strawberries AND another 1/2" of sliced bananas with pudding. The cake will be frosted with stabilized whipped cream.
I've made this before for family, but never paid much attention to how long I thawed it for. I have an event on on Wednesday evening where the cake will be served at 8pm. I will complete the decorating in Wednesday morning and since I have no room in the fridge, I need to keep it in the freezer.
I will leave for the event at 4pm. Will 4 hours be enough time for it to thaw? I arrive at the venue at 5pm and can either leave it out or place it in a refrigerator.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would that be 4-5 hrs at room temp or in a refrigerator?
My thought is at room temp as it seems thawing in the refrigerator would take much longer.
