I am going to be making a castle cake (Wilton) for my Granddaughter's 7th birthday.  I am going to use the Kakeladi's original WASC cake recipe (my first).  I am wondering if I should "marinade" it with simple syrup before decorating it.  AND, would it be safe to freeze it before I decorate it?  It will be decorated with stars like in the picture.  Thank you in advance.

Sorry this reply is so late.  I hope not entirely past your decorating time.

When following me baking directions you will have a very moist cake that will not need any simple syrup.  Certainly it is safe to freeze.  No pic attached but star-filled will make a nice castle cake for you grandaughter :)

I made a practice cake, using the Kakeladi's WASC cake recipe and it is DELICIOUS!!  I will be making the "real" one for my Granddaughter's birthday which happens to be on Easter Sunday this year.  Thank you for the wonderful recipe, and for taking time to reply to my post!!
