Hi everyone! It's been a whirlwind week this week. My son had finals, it's been raining for days which triggered my allergies and caused me to lose my voice and we are getting ready to go on vacation! The only baking I did this week is make snickerdoodle muffins for my son. They were yummy but I think I want to tweak the recipe now and create cupcakes instead! LOL!

Not often that I come in here on Saturday morning and not see a reply! I hope everyone is just having a REALLY busy weekend and didn't have time to join us this week. I head out for vacation tomorrow but will have my computer with me and will check back from time to time!
Another slight busy week for me! Had an order for a first birthday and a baptism.

Not really a fan of the design of the cake, but it's what the client wanted.
@catlharper Allergies are horrible! The weather has been surprisingly amazing here. We usually get a few snowstorms in March, but today it's currently 12 degrees C!! Doesn't sound like much but just last year it was around -25 haha. We are very lucky this year!

I don't bake until next week. I looked early this morning and was surprised there were no cakes. Thanks @SweetShop5 always can depend on you to share. Love the little man cake. Have a question? I am thinking about making cake pops and was wondering how do you get yours to turn out so beautiful all the time?

@Marian64 Thank you so much! Cake pops look intimidating, but they're not as difficult as people make them out to be. The only problem I've run into is the chocolate consistency because of a new microwave we got. But essentially, I use the food processor to crumble the cake and mix a bit of buttercream. You want the cake to be a little dry, because if there's too much buttercream then your cake balls will be way too soft and fall off the stick. After rolling them out, I put them in the fridge for about 15 minutes, melt the candy melts, take the cake balls out and let them set at room temperature for 5mins and then tip. I find it's better to tap on your wrist rather than tapping the actual stick on a bowl to remove the chocolate. Hope this helps
@Pastrybaglady 5 cakes, WOW!! Not sure I would be able to handle that by myself in a week haha. Can't wait to see them! The Little Man is my favourite too! The client gave me the design for the cake and cake pops.
Didn't have any orders this week either. Just back from a boat trip to the sandbank...so nice just to chill out lol.

I haven't made any cakes yet but I made a giraffe cake topper and matching cupcake toppers for a friends little girl, she's obsessed with them!!
We've stayed pretty steady the last few weeks with orders and other business related work so I've been nonexistent on cc for a few weeks lol. This cake was a for fun cake for us that we shared with our neighbors (bc they are awesome lol). We also made some cupcakes to go with the cake. I guess we had bunny fever lol. Love the giraffe and the little tie cake pops too cute!! Looks like everyone had a good week. Have a great vacation Cat.....I'm certain I'll be needing one after next week Easter is shaping up to be a busy one for us!!
