Hello,

I will be doing a minecraft cake and for the squares I wanted to use candy melts in square shapes instead of Fondant squares. The cake will be frosted with buttercream.

My question is - can I use candy melts instead of fondant will there be any issues ?

Thanks in advance,

Veena.

Hi Cake_Starter

I think  if you worked fast you could cut the squares out of melts. Would it leave fingerprints when you popped them on the cake?  I personally don't like the taste of melts or what they're made of. When I made a minecraft cake I used modelling chocolate over buttercream. The chocolate held it's shape well. Just remember to start off at the top of the cake and not the bottom like I did. blush.png

Hi Shazza

Thank you for responding. I have a square mold that I am planning to use to get square pieces, I will make them ahead of time and was thinking to apply on buttercream frosting maybe on the previous day of the party. The birthday boy like candy melts
