Hey! Im new herr and need help with an open briefcase cake. Im not sure how to do the lid!! I attached a pic of what i want to make. Can anyone give me guidelines on how to get it done please? I checked  previous posts but not fully understanding.

I did an open briefcase cake once...I used a corrugated plastic board and heated it until it melted then bent it into shape to hold up the "lid." The cake was sitting on the board, then there was a part of the plastic that was bent perpendicularly up along the spine of the case, then the lid stuck up. I'll try to find a diagram.

So you made the lid from cake as well??

Here is a diagram.  You can make 2 out of styrofoam. Or you can make 3 out of styrofoam and 1 and 2 out of cake.  You probably need to dowel through 3, 2, and 1 to make sure lid stays in place.
