What is your favorite brand of color and do you use gel or powder? I think there is also paste? This would be for IMBC and for fondant/gum paste. I'm looking for vintage colors....mint, blush, ivory?? Picture Cotton and Crumbs work.

For IMBC I'd use an oil-based candy color. for fondant and gumpaste I use gels, pastes, whatever. I don't have any loyalty to one brand or another, I jut sue whatever color is closest to what I'm looking for.

I like AmeriColor for fondant/gum paste and FDA approved powdered colors [sugarpaste.com, thesugarart.com, pristinepowders.com] for IMBC.

I try not to buy specialty colors, if possible, and often play around to mix my own.  This chart might help [I haven't really used it--I'm a "by the eye" person]

Creating Vibrant Colors with our Americolor Gel Paste

Depending on the amount of icing you are using, you will need to gauge the amount of Americolor gel paste drop. Use the ratios as a guide.
