So, I've read quite a bit about frosting a decorating cake but I just want to make sure I've got the right steps down...

1. Torte, fill frozen cake layers.

2. Add crumbcoat.

3. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in frig to finish thawing.

4. Finish decorating cake.

Couple of questions...

After adding the crumbcoat, do I let it the thin layer dry/crust before wrapping in plastic wrap?

How long do I have to finish letting it thaw in the frig before decorating it?

Do I need to let the cake come to room temp (from the frig) before putting the final layer on and decorating it?

Thanks for all your help!  Cheers!

Way more work than I do!!

i bake layers, remove from pans, level, wrap in plastic wrap then in freezer overnight.

Next day I ice frozen layers, no crumb coat....just fill and ice.  Then into the cooler....they thaw slowly.

They are in and out if the cooler as I work on them, but they do spend the final night before delivery in the cooler.
