I have all the tutorials for putting together the "gravity defying" beer can cake, except for the best method for using isomalt on the dowel as the poured beer. I like the fondant way, but think the isomalt looks a bit more realistic. I'm a newbie to using isomalt though! I
I'd stick the dowel into the cake to see how far it's going to go in, then pull it out and pour isomalt on it to cover it up to that point. If you're not experienced with isomalt be careful not to burn yourself. I'm experienced and still burn myself all the time.
Once it's got one coat of isomalt on it, you can pour more down to form drips etc.
