Hi All,

I need to make a tapered wedding cake in November. I am trying to work out how much i need to cut off each cake to make it tapered and make it look even.

I have done a diagram below, what do you all think will it work how I am planning?

Thanks Sarah

Am I right having a 6" at the top or should it be an 8" tapered down to 6"?

Just realised the 10" cake should be 9" tapered down to 6"!

Your diagram looks like it's not to scale, as in the cakes are tapered more than they would actually be for the measurements given.  Taking the diameter of a cake down 2" only gives a 1" difference on each side of the cake.

When I'm planning something like this, I always draw it to scale on graph paper to see how the proportions are actually going to look.  Often after doing that, I realize I need to adjust my measurements to get the overall look I want.

Thanks for the reply, your correct my drawings arent to scale it was just a rough idea how it would be.

How much would you reccomend you need to take off each cake to make it look right?

I'd have to play with graph paper or drawing to scale to figure that out.  It would be better for you to do that yourself, since you know what look you're going for better than I do.
