Wedding Cake Is Split In Tin No Time For Remake
Baking By pigpie Updated 22 Sep 2015 , 1:37pm by -K8memphis
can anyone tell me if I use boiled apricot jam whilst cake is still in tin will it fix the cracks/split
maybe -- maybe not -- what kind of cake and what kind of cracks
pigpie said this to me in a pm that i probably can't access but once::
Hi I have tried to reply but it wont let me something about exceeded amount need try later, it is a fruit cake, I made 3 fruit cakes months ago Thursday marzipaned them Friday one had collapsed so made another today when took out over top is covered in cracks can't see how deep as still in tin to cool but I have no time for any more remakes as wedding is Saturday
so then i said this:
"can't you just squish it back together for the most part? i don't think the preserves would hurt a thing and would help glue but i am so not a fruit cake expert -- i have made them but it's not my forte -- hope others will chime in for you"
It probably cracked while it was rising during baking but that doesn't mean it's going to break apart. Sometimes they just get cracked on the top surface. I'd go ahead and take ti out of the pan and see what you're working with, Jam won't help but it probably won't hurt either.
Pleased to announce cake was fine when I gathered the courage to take out of tin, thank you for your help
