I am going to try this this week! My DH is having a birthday and is totally into a 17th century pirate game online. I have found a cool treasure map of the very same area that his game is based in, so I thought it would be neat if I made a map. I'm planning on making a blood-red german chocolate cake, with the regular coconut pecan icing, made to resemble a swatch of island...then I will add a treasure chest, and map and whatever else I have time and energy to do.

I'm really excited about trying this technic. Can you use any of the dusts to paint this way? Or powdered color, like pulverized chalk, or something?

You mentioned powdered food coloring....where do you get that??

Wish me luck!!

Lisa
