Arg!  I'm in the beginning stages of making a very large batch of buttercream for a cake that is due on Saturday. I just realized that I do not have enough hi ratio shortening to make the amount that I need. I have called every store within 50 miles, and of course, everybody is out. Can I mix hi ratio with Crisco? It would be about two parts high-ratio to 1 part Crisco.  Or should I just make all the buttercream from Crisco?  I hate to do that, making buttercream with high ratio is so much better!

Thanks,

Christina

Just mix it.  Nobody but you may notice any difference (if there is any, which I doubt).

Apti,

Thank you.  I dId need to work some Crisco into each batch to get the hi ratio stretched. You're right, I will be the only one that knows! Thank you!
