Has anyone had success using  "Cake Lace" on an Italian Buttercream? The bride wants a "burlap" ribbon at the base of each cake layer and I am considering using Cake Lace to achieve the look. Also, for those of you have experience with cake lace, can you layer it if I wanted to do a "lace" ribbon with "burlap" on top. How would I adhere the top ribbon to the bottom one?

Yes, have attached cake lace to smbc and it works fine.

Would reconsider the burlap ribbon though...quite yucky having all those pieces on a cake.  Or do you mean the burlap cake lace mat?

I have attached cake lace to cake lace with both edible glue and piping gel.  Just be conservative so as not to get the lace to wet.  The burlap mat from Sugar Veil is what I have used; it is not the greatest but the best option over real burlap.

Yes, I will be using the hessian silicone mat to make a "burlap" ribbon.
