Im a mud cake newbie and need some help and advice.
I recently attempted a mississippi mud cake (a mix from a cake decorating store) as a trial run and it appeared to go fairly well until i flipped the cake and saw that it was semi hollow on the bottom- so this is my first problem. What causes this?
Second question- why would it crack on top?
Third question- is is supposed to be really dense? I cut it in half and the consistency seems really thick more like a brownie but it does take like a mud cake still.
I followed the recipe exactly in regards to quantities. Used a 10 inch pan without baking strips or tenting. I baked for 80 mins at 150c because i know my oven runs a little hot. Ive baked normal mud cakes before and they worked fine. The photos were taken after 24 hours (and i let the cake cool overnight in the pan)
