I have never used a cupcake corer but I am making some cupcakes for a gender reveal party. Are there some core that work better than others? Should the cupcakes be cold or room temperature? Any other thought or suggestions?

I have the Wilton brand (it has a plunger) that I've used for ages.  I've found it definitely works better on refrigerated cupcakes.  I also find that mine works better if I do not go down quite as far as they show on the marks on the plunger.  When I use their guidelines the cakes tended to break apart.

 Good luck!

I always use an apple corer (I found it much easier to use than a cupcake corer). I do a few at a time, then push the cake out of the corer!
