I am making 3 dozen cupcakes and 2 smash cakes for a 1st bday party this Sat...I am trying to figure out the best way to go about this without waiting till the last minute....
My question is: will I be ok baking tonight, and then frosting tomorrow?  with final touches Sat morning? Or should I bake and frost tomorrow?
The cakes are all vanilla (plain) with buttercream.  No real icing details, as they are circus themed and will have marshmallow "popcorn", cotton candy and sprinkle decorations.  I will bake the 2nd cake Monday as its not needed until the 2nd....
TIA!

I would make the batter (and refrigerate) and the buttercream today.

Get all your pans with your cupcake liners and tools ready for tomorrow. And bake tomorrow.

That's how I do it. Although I sometimes make the batter weeks in advance and freeze it.
